I made a small investment into the company back in May 2010 shortly after its inception. I share the view of the founding investors that many people were sitting on valuable unworn or broken jewellery that they could sell but they either didn’t trust the postal gold route or would not be seen dead walking into a pawnbrokers.
Gold Parties remove that stigma and allow guests to sell their gold in a fun filled party atmosphere, where we contribute to the cost of drinks and nibbles and ensure that the guests possessions are sold in front of their eyes, at a fair and reasonable price with full disclosure of the individual piece value. There is never any obligation to sell. It’s the party where everyone leaves with cash.
In December 2010 I took over as CEO and increased my shareholding from 2% to 28%. We also are backed by a major family investment fund and have since partnered with charities such as One2One and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
I am also in negotiations to partner with the charitable trust of an English Premiership Football Club.
We believe people are experiencing poor service, poor pricing and a “grubby” customer experience when selling their Gold in these especially difficult times when money is tight. A company that can set themselves apart by addressing these problems can greatly benefit.
The feedback on the parties to date has been wonderful and highly encouraging. We believe we pay a fair price for items, ask our reps to work hard but pay and reward them well and earn a modest profit margin on our trading activities.
By not being greedy I believe we encourage reps to promote our business and customers to sell their gold to us, confident in the knowledge that they have received a fair price in a fun, pre-paid party atmosphere. Our positive experiences so far at the parties we have hosted have confirmed this assertion.
