Testimonial
Lynda Almond – Independent Director for The Pampered Chef
In
2005 I was working for local government when I had to give up work
due to ill health. My husband and I have a busy family life caring
for my two daughters – the youngest (5) is autistic and my
eldest daughter (8) has been diagnosed with Dyslexia and Irlens
Syndrome. Being unwell myself and having to give up work really
knocked my confidence and left me feeling low.
A few weeks later I went to a Pampered Chef Cooking Show that my friend was hosting. I went along expecting to get out of the house for a couple of hours, have fun learning a new recipe and have a good time – but what I left with was the prospect of a new job that would give me back my self-confidence, enable me to meet new people, earn money and do something for myself!
I started as a Consultant for The Pampered Chef in February 2005 and I’ve never looked back. I’m not saying it’s been an easy ride – I’ve had a hysterectomy, pneumonia, severe post natal depression and three procedures on my back, all whilst running my own Pampered Chef business!
The beauty of being a Consultant is the flexibility – you set your own hours and decide your own income. My husband is wonderfully supportive and looks after our daughters whilst I do my Shows – and even washes up the dirty kitchen utensils for me when I get home! - so even with everything going on, with his support I was still able to fit building my business around our family life and my own health problems.
At a time when things seemed quite bleak, having something else to focus on boosted my confidence no end. I love my family and would do anything for them, but everyone needs a bit of ‘me’ time and that’s what The Pampered Chef gives me. I loved doing the Cooking Shows, meeting new people and making new friends – and the enthusiasm was obviously infectious, as I recruited more people to join my team and managed to promote to Director!
My girls are my number one priority and I never thought I could find a job that would fit around their hospital appointments and my own health problems, but I’m living proof that it can be done. Despite all the difficulties of the last 4 years, The Pampered Chef has given me confidence, flexibility, focus, a continued income and I’ve built a great team. Looking back to 2005 I can hardly believe it’s the same person and I’ve never been happier!
